The playlist of politics

By Staff | Jul 15, 2015

To the editor:

I sat down today to write a comment of a political nature. As I pulled together my notes and started to assemble them into what I hoped would be a coherent summary of my thoughts, I became a bit depressed.

Here, in the United States, we enjoy a time in history that is far and above that which others could, or might, only dream about. Yet, in the midst of all this wealth of time and place and country, we are continually faced with politicians on both sides of the aisle that will lie, cheat and take whatever they can in order to win the sought after political office. It is a shame.

Continuing to lie and misdirect, they now assemble in their lairs seeking out the moment that they might put an end to the career of any and all political foes. And the country suffers. No noble purpose dwells here. No honorable dream strives to unfold. But in their place an exalted shout is heard from the masses for the “race” to begin. Cameras and microphones are the weapons of choice. Facts be damned! Reputations take care for they are also at risk. Folly reigns.

The coming months will unfold like innings in a game slowly progressing to that end which signals the performance of politics is over. The election will be held and the victor shall ascend the throne. But the country will still suffer.
