Suspect sought in robbery on July 11
Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help identifying and tracking down a man who robbed a Lehigh Acres resident at gunpoint, while he was walking in his neighborhood.
At about 10 a.m. July 11, the victim was walking in the area of Southwest 11th Street and Gordon Avenue South, when a black man driving a silver four-door Honda pulled up next to him.
The suspect pointed a handgun at the man’s chest and demanded his wallet and cell phone. In fear for his life, the victim complied. The suspect then asked the victim what his shoe size was and demanded that he hand over the red Nike sneakers he was wearing.
He then took off and managed to evade arrest, despite a thorough canvass of the neighborhood.
Detectives were able to obtain surveillance photos of the suspect, taken just minutes before the robbery at the Dollar General located just a few blocks away.
He is described as a tall black man, approximately 6 feet tall with long dreads. The suspect should be considered armed and dangerous.
Anyone with information on the suspect, or who may have witnessed the robbery, is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 780-TIPS (8477). All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
