Voters and our homeless
To the editor:
The formal expression of will or opinion in regard to some question submitted for decision, as in electing politicians, officers, passing resolutions, etc. is the conventional definition describing voting. In the good old USA we do have taxation with representation. The quality of said representation is highly questionable in my opinion. USA politicians are cleaver, devious, dishonest, deceitful, sneaky, wily and treacherous. Our $18.3 trillion national debt is testament to their total incompetence. We need to seriously consider this fact prior to selecting future presidents and members of Congress. It is obvious both Democrats and Republicans have traded control of Congress and the White House for reelection campaign funds. Highly paid and well-connected lobbyists have been in control of most important legislation passed by Congress and approved by the White House. Back in the ’60s President Eisenhower warned us of this fact in his farewell address. Both the White House and Congress have since sold out.
It is unfortunate most voters are so indifferent to the performance of all elected officials. Even in presidential election years only slightly more than half of the eligible take time to vote. The result of this lack of interest permits a small minority of the truly serious politicians to maintain total control. This is not good representation. It is exactly the opposite. Plato was correct when he said: “The price one pays for refusing to be involved in politics is to be forever ruled by your inferiors.”
It is factual that labor unions, Hispanics, people of color, and recipients of government welfare benefits vote Democratic by a margin of 8-2. Democrats want more Hispanic voters and open borders. On the other side of the coin, the Republicans and big business want cheap labor and they want it now. This also translates into more immigrants. They are willing to screw over everyone in their line of vision to make more profit. Are you getting the picture? Neither party wants the border closed. The capitalists will not budge – ever. Vladimir Lenin is reported to have said that “Capitalists are so greedy they will sell us the rope to hang them with.” That, my friend is pretty greedy. LOL
In view of the above, what are the chances of meaningful immigration reform? Neither political party desires it, in spite of their opposing stories to the contrary, it will not happen!
Both political parties desire total control as this would enable their constituents to pick most of the golden apples from the tree of commerce during their reign of control. It is all about control and money. Responsibility and honesty are out the window.
Perhaps the time has come to replace all of them and demand term limits. Lets also cancel their cushy medical coverage and jam Obamacare down their lousy throats. While we are in the mood to make changes, let’s cancel their big, fat pensions. Force them to work for a change of pace like the rest of us. This idea should also be considered in lieu of welfare checks for all able bodied individuals.
Finally, consider the plight of the homeless among us. The census bureau has made several serious efforts, in various parts of the country, to gather meaningful data on our homeless. They are totally ignored, neglected, and in many cases abused. The government reported that we have between 1 to 3 million homeless among us at any point in time and it is a varying quantity from year to year. One of thirteen of them are military veterans and 45 percent of them have somewhat serious mental illness. Why is such a large group of USA citizens whose life is totally unmanageable ignored by our politicians? Because not one single homeless person is a registered voter. Therefore they do not count in D.C.
Hoping for change.
