Lee County Supervisor of Elections Sharon Harrington will host an open house on Aug. 14 at 10 a.m. at the Lee County Elections Center, at 13180 S. Cleveland Ave., Fort Myers, to demonstrate the Elections Systems & Software’s Express Vote, the Americans with Disabilities compliant voting system.
Representatives from ES&S will be available to assist with hands-on demonstrations and answer questions.
The public is invited to attend and learn about the system.

The Gulf Coast Writers Association will meet on Aug. 15 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church, at 7401 Winkler Road, Fort Myers.
Speaker Robert McCarthy will discuss critique group guidelines in fiction, non-fiction and poetry, and proofreading marks from “The Chicago Manual of Style.”
Since 1979, McCarthy has been a professional writer, editor and producer in freelance and corporate positions. He published an E-book in 2014, “Collaborative Blogging: A Team Approach to Social Media in 6 Easy Steps.”
There will also be a presentation by members Richard Georgian and Denise Holbrook.
Members and first-time visitors are free of charge; guests are $5.

The Lehigh Acres American Legion Auxiliary Unit 323 will host a garage sale on Aug. 22 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Post Home, at 1124 Ashlar Drive.
Any donations may be brought to the post from Aug. 16-21.
The proceeds will go toward a donation to the Fisher House.

– Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. at Veterans Park
– Wednesdays from 6 to 7 p.m and Saturdays from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. at Healthy Harvest Community Farms
The classes are free; donations are welcome. At least 10 people must be signed up for a class.
