GOP needs DNA adjusted
To the editor:
The GOP can change the political DNA of its party by utilizing the ideas of Donald Trump. Let me state this another way. Trump sees a problem and asks why? What is causing the problem? Now, we can adopt this line of reasoning to the immense, and intense, illegal immigration from Mexico into the southern part of the U.S.
Why are they flocking here? What needs to be done in their country that will encourage them to stay at home? Perhaps there are types of farming that could be encouraged in Mexico that would not only employ a large population, but it might feed them as well. What becomes excess can be exported to starving nations in the third world.
This coupled with heavy fines in the U.S. for employing illegals would dry up the employment that they seek. Further, illegals would not get any welfare, education, etc.
We cannot say we want to control illegal immigration and then make it desirable for the illegal immigrants to want to be here. This is not a final list of what is possible but it is a start for a comprehensive discussion on other plans.
As for building a wall, China showed how it was in 206 B.C. and its final length is a little over 13,000 miles!
I suspect that good ol’ American know-how, and a smidgen of determination, could build a wall of sufficient dimensions to be very effective in controlling unauthorized migration. A word to Mexico, regarding sanctions should have an effect on encouraging Mexico to police their side of the border effectively.
There are many who will rise to shout that this cannot be done. They will add that we cannot deport the illegals that are already here. They are the failures in our society who only visualize what cannot be accomplished rather than to bear witness to what can be a success.
