T. Rex Planet to return to the Lee Civic Center
Want to see what ruled the earth some 30 million years ago? Come to the Lee Civic center this weekend to check it out.
T. Rex Planet is coming to town once again, this time for two days on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
According to Dave Eldika, the purpose of T. Rex Planet is to educate visitors about the prehistoric creatures that ruled the world and to make it fun and interactive.
“Kids learn about dinosaurs but never see dinosaurs, so this is something they can experience,” Eldika said.
The event was at the center last year, but on a Friday. Eldika said the children get excited about the event and they hold it for two days over the weekend this year.
“It’s the same concept as dinosaurs, but this has more activities, more things for the kids. We have a walking dinosaur come out every three hours,” Eldika said. “There are a whole lot of activities for kids.”
T. Rex Planet, which is based in Michigan near Detroit, offers many fun and engaging activities for all ages. You can walk through live dinosaur and fossil exhibits, with the massive Mamenchisaurus and two Tyrannosaurus rexs’ that will make you feel quite small.
Kids can dance with the dinosaur band, dig up a dinosaur fossil, play in a dinosaur-themed bounce house or even ride a friendly walking dinosaur.
According to the website, T. Rex Planet employs a team of more than 30 people that have been hand-picked to bring the world of dinosaurs alive. The team arrives at each new city and has a part to do with everything from creating scenes and decorating each era as it was millions of years ago.
This year’s event will have more than 50 lifelike dinosaurs.
General admission for everyone over the age of 1 is $20. It includes a tour of the Dino exhibit plus unlimited access to basketball, soccer and Dinosaur Band. It also includes a free game of Dino Soar!, which can be downloaded from the Apple and Google app stores.
