American Legion attends meeting

The Lehigh Acres American Legion Post 323, Auxiliary 323 and SAL Squadron 323 recently attended the District 13 meeting.

ABC school will be held on Oct. 10 at 9 a.m. at the post at 1124 Ashlar Ave.

There will also be a sgt-at-arms class and preparations for a visit by Department of Florida President Pearl McIntire.

The Fall Conference will be held on Nov. 13-15 in Orlando.

SAL District 13 gave $93,000 to the American Legion National for the Legacy Scholarship, which is given to children of veterans who lost their lives in combat.

Future meetings include:

– Dec. 13 at American Legion Post 110 in Port Charlotte

– March 13 at the American Legion Post 38 in Fort Myers

Lehigh Auto Body joins U-Haul dealer network

U-Haul Company of Florida recently announced that Lehigh Auto Body has signed on as a U-Haul neighborhood dealer.

Lehigh Auto Body, at 5507 W. Eighth St., will offer trucks, trailers, towing equipment, support rental items and in-store pickup for boxes.

Hours of operation for rentals are Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

After-hours drop-off is available for customer convenience.

Florida Rural Legal Services can help seniors over the age of 60 remove unwanted houseguests, such as relatives or caregivers who refuse to leave, with an unlawful detainer action.

Seniors can also contact the Florida Senior Legal helpline at (888) 895-7873 or the Area Agency on Aging for Southwest Florida’s elder helpline at (866) 413-5337 to find sources of assistance in their local area.

To report elder abuse, neglect or exploitation, contact the Florida Abuse hotline at (800) 96-ABUSE (962-2873).
