The victim has been identified as Leonard Monroe Burger (d.o.b. 01/261980 of Lehigh Acres). A witness described a small sports utility vehicle leaving the scene at a high rate of speed.

On September 23, 2015 at 4:25 p.m. the Fort Myers Police Department responded to the 2100 block of Davis Court in reference to a call of shots fired. A gunshot victim was transported from the scene by a third party before police arrival. Lee County Emergency Medical Service met the victim and the third party at another location and transported the victim to Lee Memorial Hospital. The injury is described as non-life threatening.

Detectives along with crime scene technicians are working the scene to include canvassing the area for witnesses.
