Police: Shooter arrested

At about 12:45 p.m. Oct. 21, the U.S. Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Force located Niajia Marie Adames, 19, of Fort Myers, at 2955 Colonial Blvd. and took her into custody for the shooting of Elijah Wilson.

Adames was developed as a suspect after several follow up investigations in the aftermath of the X shooting on Oct. 19.

She was charged with aggravated battery with a firearm and transported to the Lee County Jail.

Wilson remains hospitalized at Lee Memorial Hospital, but he is expected to survive.

At 11:21 a.m., the Fort Myers police responded to a call of a shooting near the intersection of Simpson Street and Glenn Drive.

Upon arrival, officers located Elijah Wilson, 18, of Lehigh Acres, laying near the roadway suffering from a gunshot wound.

Lee County Emergency Medical Service transported him to the hospital as a trauma alert.
