The holidays have begun. Thanksgiving is just around the corner with Christmas already on the shelves.

Destiny Diaper Bank has been holding baby bottle drives for several years, but I wanted to do something different for Thanksgiving.

We are asking that you take a baby bottle the month of November and fill it with change. If you can’t stop in to pick up a bottle maybe you could place a collection basket on your table to collect donations for our babies in need of diapers.

This can be something you, your family, and friends can do. Bring the change that you collect at the Thanksgiving table and say a little prayer for the hard working moms in school and at work. Give your change to make a change of diapers for these moms.

I believe that you will be glad you did.

All change that is collected will go toward the purchase of infant disposable diapers. Right now we need sizes 3-6 to just get us through the holidays.

Destiny Diaper Bank is asking local businesses to become a Baby Bottle Sponsor through the holidays. We will bring in a large water bottle along with baby bottles for your staff, employees, and friends.

For a two-week period the baby bottle sponsors that have taken a bottle collect change and bring it back to the office to fill the water bottle. At the end of two weeks the water bottle is picked up and the change is counted.

As a business/organization sponsor to Destiny Diaper Bank, your business/organization will be included in all newsletter and media publications. You will also be listed on our web site.

You can help Destiny Diaper Bank to make a difference in the lives of many fragile and vulnerable families in our community.

Hundreds of moms, caregivers of “special needs” children, adults and seniors, that we help each month do not have a safety – net shelter or organization that helps these families with the diaper supplies that they need.

Diaper assistance cannot be obtained through Food Stamps, WIC, Medicaid, or Medicare in most situations. Many families rely on Destiny Diaper Bank for assistance each month for the supplies that they need.

Some of the people we serve:

– Student moms – “Help Keep A Mom In School” distributing diapers each month to our local student moms who have 80 percent attendance each month

– Working Moms – Help our working moms that are low income

– Special needs ages of 4-20

– Veterans

– First response officers

– Adults

– Elderly

Our Lehigh business sponsors include Lehigh Community Services, at 201 Plaza Drive, with Rae Nicely as its executive director.

Other sponsors include the Lee County Department of Human Services, at 2440 Thompson St., Fort Myers. It has become a Baby Bottle Sponsor.
