Lee County sheriff’s detectives continued their investigation this past weekend into the shooting death in Lehigh Acres that occurred Thursday night, Nov.5, when a man was found in a vehicle parked near the Bowland bowling alley. He was later identified in the course of the investigation as 21-year-old Rashawn Myers of 321 Pennfield St. Lehigh.

Authorities were called to the scene after responding to reports of shots that were fired near the bowling alley at 1244 Business Way. The shooting incident was reported be at around 10:40 p.m.

Lee County Sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit detectives are working the case calling the shooting a homicide.

While the investigation continued over the weekend, investigators were unable to offer any more information as to who the suspect or suspects in the case may be. The investigation moved to Myers’ home where reports of shots were also reported.

The body of Myers was found in the car parked outside of the bowling alley and an employee at Bowland said the man had not come into the bowling alley that night. The location of the shooting was not too far from the East Zone substation of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office and behind several offices on Homestead Road.

Investigators quickly sealed off an area that included Business Way and much of Homestead Road as they searched for clues into the murder. The streets remained closed early into Friday morning, opening too traffic at around 6 a.m.

Motorists in area noticed the scene tape covering a wide area and flashing lights surrounding the large parking area outside the bowling alley. Detectives had marked more than 12 evidence markers on the ground during the initial investigation.

No information was available late Sunday night as to any additional information on a suspect or suspects. The Sheriff’s Office said it would release information when it became available. The murder Thursday night brings the number of homicide investigations to five this year in Lehigh.
