Free car seat safety inspections
Kohl’s Kids Safety Program and Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida will provide free car seat safety inspections on Dec. 12 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Kohl’s, at 9357 Ben C Pratt/Six Mile Cypress Parkway, Fort Myers.
Car seats will be available at a reduced price if your car seat is part of a recall, outdated or not the appropriate car seat for the child.
Bilingual fitting technicians will be available.

Italian-American Social Club to hold meeting

Band presents concerts
The Lee County Community Band rehearses Thursdays from 7 to 9 p.m. at St. Michael Lutheran School in Fort Myers.

Workshops set
Karen Harty, a master gardener with Grow A Gardener, will present the following:
– Dec. 13: Growing tomatoes from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Southwest Florida Enterprise Center, 3903 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Suite 6, Fort Myers. Cost is $15; walk-ins are accepted.
– Dec. 19: Annual hands-on edible propagation and in-garden learning class from 10 a.m. to noon at Harty’s garden in Lehigh Acres. Learn how to create potting soil from scratch, fertilize, care and properly root plant cuttings, and take home at least three plants. Cost is $15 or free if you arrive at 9 a.m. to weed for an hour. Participants will be required to sign a release.

The VegHeads, a 4-H youth club, are installing one free raised vegetable garden bed, including soil, fertilizer, seeds and plants, for a holiday giveaway.

Edible Gardening Exchange to meet
The Edible Gardening Exchange will meet on Dec. 15 at 6:30 p.m. at the North Fort Myers Community Center, at 2000 N. Recreation Park Way, North Fort Myers; informal chat at 5:30 p.m.
Guest speaker Gene McAvoy, Hendry County Extension director, will discuss edible garden insects in an informative presentation.
Membership through March is $10, plus a $10 Lee Parks and Recreation membership.

Call for artists
Artists, photographers, quilters, sculptors, artisans and writers can participate in the 5th Annual Art, Craft & Music Festival.
Hosted by the Arts of the Inland and the LaBelle Downtown Revitalization Corporation, it will be held on Jan. 30 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Barron Park, on De Soto Avenue, in LaBelle.
A 10-by-10 space for Arts of the Inland members is $30; the non-member rate is $60.
Reserve a space by Jan. 15.
Vendor set up will begin at 8 a.m. and must be completed by 10 a.m.; tear down is after 3 p.m.

Pool holding classes
The Lehigh Acres Community Pool, at 1400 W. Fifth St., is heated and open year-round.
A wide range of swim lesson skill levels are offered, including adult beginners; all taught by American Red Cross Certified instructors. Eight classes for $50.
Commit to get fit with aqua aerobics. Choose from a fast-paced workout at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday through Friday or the ultra-low impact class at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday and Friday. Classes are 45 minutes long in chest deep water.
There are lifeguards-on-duty. Lap swimmers welcome.

The Healthy Harvest Community Farms, at 607 Mirror Lakes Drive, hosts the following boot camps:
– Mondays and Fridays from 6 to 7 p.m. at Williams Park
– Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. at Veterans Park
– Wednesdays from 6 to 7 p.m and Saturdays from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. at Healthy Harvest Community Farms
