Emergency repair, rehab programs available
The Lee County Human Services Department is accepting applications for the emergency repair and rehabilitation programs.
If you are a homeowner and your household qualifies, you may be eligible to receive assistance in repairing/renovating your home.
Common repairs include repair or replacement of roofing, electrical, HV/AC, plumbing, septic, well and some interior repairs.
To qualify for assistance, you must meet the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development income guidelines.
Programs funded through federal grants from HUD; occupancy and other requirements may apply.

Campaign to get pets ‘Home 4 the Holidays’
Lee County Domestic Animal Services will join thousands of pet shelters and adoption centers during Home 4 the Holidays, a event organized to raise awareness of the joys of owning shelter pets.
Lee County’s goal is to place all the pets from its facility into life-long homes by Dec. 23.
Adopters will receive a free gift with each adoption, plus a package with pet food and coupons courtesy of Blue Buffalo.
Adoption hours are 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday; the shelter will be closed Dec. 24, 25 and 31.

Nominations being taken for Citizen of Year award
Lee County Commissioners are looking for nominees for the 2015 Paulette Burton Citizen of the Year Award, who get involved in the community and work diligently for causes in which they believe.
The award strives to recognize a citizen who has provided outstanding civic contributions to Lee County government.
The criteria includes a positive attitude, knowledge of the objectives and activities of Lee, demonstrated interest in community/county government partnerships and promotion of harmony between community and government.
Nomination forms are available at Lee County libraries and recreation centers or online at: www.leegov.com/citizenoftheyear.
Nominations due by Jan. 29.
