New times, days for Home-School PE Club

Starting in January, the Home-School PE Club will meet from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. Tuesdays and 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Thursdays at the Veterans Park Recreation Center, at 55 Homestead Road.

Geared for children ages 5-16, the club is an opportunity for home-schooled children to get out, get active and make new friends.

Games and activities inside and outside; bring a water bottle and wear comfy clothing and shoes.

Cost is $10 for four classes or $20 for eight, plus a one-time $10 facility membership fee.

Animal Services seeks homes for small dogs

Lee County Domestic Animal Services is seeking homes for 30 Maltese dogs recently taken in from an overwhelmed caregiver.

The dogs range in age from puppies to 7 years old; all of them need to be housetrained.

The dogs are being vaccinated, sterilized and bathed and will be made available as they are processed through Animal Services Veterinary Clinic.

Anyone interested in adopting one should come to the shelter and complete an application.

The dogs will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

The adoption center is open Monday through Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

All animals may be viewed online at: www.leelostpets.com; information is updated hourly.

Adoption applications may also be submitted online.

Artist of the Month named

Shary Weckwerth is the Artist of the Month for December at the Arts of the Inland gallery in the cafe at Lehigh Regional Medical Center, 1500 Lee Blvd.

Stop in and view her artwork Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Dinner, dance planned

The Italian-American Social Club will host a Snowflake Dinner-Dance on Jan. 9 from 5 to 9:30 p.m. in hall at St. Raphael Church, at 2514 Lee Blvd.

The dinner will include chicken parmesan, spaghetti, salad and dessert; bring your own beverages, mixers will be provided.

– Jan. 17: Growing tomatoes in Southwest Florida from 2 to 4 p.m.

The series will be held at the Hendry County Hendry County Extension Office, at 1085 Pratt Blvd., Labelle.

A 10-by-10 space for Arts of the Inland members is $30; the non-member rate is $60.

Reserve a space by Jan. 15.

Vendor set up will begin at 8 a.m. and must be completed by 10 a.m.; tear down is after 3 p.m.

Commit to get fit with aqua aerobics. Choose from a fast-paced workout at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday through Friday or the ultra-low impact class at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday and Friday. Classes are 45 minutes long in chest deep water.

There are lifeguards-on-duty. Lap swimmers welcome.
