Crime Stoppers: Suspects sought in two burglaries in Lehigh

By Staff | Jan 20, 2016

Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help identifying two black men who broke into a pair of Lehigh Acres homes within the last week.

The first burglary occurred on Jan. 7 on Brazos Street East, after the homeowner left for work. Around 6:45 a.m., he set his home alarm, only to be contacted by his monitoring company a few hours later, informing him that there had been a break-in at his house.

Upon his arrival shortly after noon, Lee County Sheriff’s Office deputies and detectives were already investigating the crime.

Home surveillance cameras captured images of the two suspects climbing through a living room window, which they smashed open with a brick. The two ransacked the house and ended up taking a Smith & Wesson .40 caliber pistol and a Smith & Wesson .38 caliber revolver, as well as an iPad and other miscellaneous items.

Just a few days later on Jan. 11, the same two men are believed to have burglarized a home on Butler Avenue South.

A witness told detectives he saw a black four-door Nissan pass by the victim’s house a few times. Shortly thereafter, he saw the same car backed into the home’s driveway, with two black men at the side of the house.

Suspecting that the men were up to no good and did not belong at that residence, he honked his horn, prompting the two men to run back to the Nissan, driven by an unknown third suspect. The homeowner reported that a side window had been broken with a rock, however no entry was made into the house.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts and identities of these two men, or the driver of the car, is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 780-TIPS (8477). All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
