Commissioner to talk about goals, challenges

Lee County Commissioner Frank Mann will speak before the Real Estate Investment Society.

The group will meet on Feb. 9 at 11:45 a.m. in the Osprey Room at the Pelican Preserve Golf Club’s Clubhouse, at 9802 Pelican Preserve Blvd., Fort Myers.

Mann will focus on the county’s budget and impact fees, infrastructure improvements and economic development practices. He is also expected to discuss growth management and key local issues in the current Legislative session.

Following the presentation, Mann will respond to questions about the real estate investment and development industry.

Cost is $30 for members or $40 for guests and includes lunch.

Basketball league taking applications

The Sheriff’s Youth Activity League and Veterans Park Recreation Center is hosting the 2016 Spring Basketball League.

The league is open to ages 8-15 and will run for 10 weeks.

The cost is $35 per player and includes a game T-shirt; there is a one-time $10 facility membership fee also required

Limited spots available.

Deadline to sign up is Feb. 4.

The UF/IFAS Lee County Extension will host a tour of Lee County farms tour on Feb. 17 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., departing from Terry Park, at 3410 Palm Beach Blvd., Fort Myers.

The tour will visit four local vegetable/small fruit and mixed enterprise farms.

A fresh, farm-raised lunch will be served farm-to-table style.

The Night for Life IX fundraiser will be held on April 11 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Broadway Palm Dinner Theater, at 1380 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers.

Entertainment will feature The Del Prados, as well as a performance by the cast of “Funny Girl.”

There will be silent and Chinese auctions, with the items to include original art, jewelry, golf packages, boat trips, vacations, dinners, services, unique gifts and more.

The event benefits the Fletcher Trust Fund, which assists transplant recipients and those waiting for transplants.

Cost is $35 or $50 for VIP seating and includes a buffet dinner.

Commissioner to talk about goals, challenges

Lee County Commissioner Frank Mann will speak before the Real Estate Investment Society.

The group will meet on Feb. 9 at 11:45 a.m. in the Osprey Room at the Pelican Preserve Golf Club’s Clubhouse, at 9802 Pelican Preserve Blvd., Fort Myers.

Mann will focus on the county’s budget and impact fees, infrastructure improvements and economic development practices. He is also expected to discuss growth management and key local issues in the current Legislative session.

Following the presentation, Mann will respond to questions about the real estate investment and development industry.

Cost is $30 for members or $40 for guests and includes lunch.

Basketball league taking applications

The Sheriff’s Youth Activity League and Veterans Park Recreation Center is hosting the 2016 Spring Basketball League.

The league is open to ages 8-15 and will run for 10 weeks.

The cost is $35 per player and includes a game T-shirt; there is a one-time $10 facility membership fee also required

Lee farms tour set

The UF/IFAS Lee County Extension will host a tour of Lee County farms tour on Feb. 17 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., departing from Terry Park, at 3410 Palm Beach Blvd., Fort Myers.

The tour will visit four local vegetable/small fruit and mixed enterprise farms.

A fresh, farm-raised lunch will be served farm-to-table style.

Night for Life IX to benefit fund

The Night for Life IX fundraiser will be held on April 11 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Broadway Palm Dinner Theater, at 1380 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers.

Entertainment will feature The Del Prados, as well as a performance by the cast of “Funny Girl.”

There will be silent and Chinese auctions, with the items to include original art, jewelry, golf packages, boat trips, vacations, dinners, services, unique gifts and more.

The event benefits the Fletcher Trust Fund, which assists transplant recipients and those waiting for transplants.
