Prime Healthcare completes purchase of LRMC

Officials have announced that Prime Healthcare has completed its acquisition of Lehigh Regional Medical Center and related businesses, including physician clinic operations and ancillary services, from subsidiaries of Community Health Systems.
Gary Bell has been named the new chief executive officer of the hospital.
“Prime Healthcare looks forward to working with the physicians, nurses and employees at Lehigh Regional Medical Center to ensure the best care for the patients they serve,” said Dr. Prem Reddy, chairman, president and CEO of Prime Healthcare Services.
“We believe that every community deserves exceptional healthcare close to home,” he said. “Prime hospitals are consistently ranked among the best hospitals in the nation, and we have no doubt that Lehigh Regional Medical Center will continue that legacy.”
Lehigh Regional Medical Center, an 88-bed acute care community hospital, has been recognized as a top performer on Key Quality Measures by The Joint Commission.
The hospital serves Lehigh and surrounding areas with a 12-bed emergency services department and other key service lines including orthopedics and cardiology.
Bell brings more than 40 years of leadership experience to his role, having led, consulted with and acquired hospitals in the United States and internationally.

With the addition of Lehigh Regional Medical Center, Prime Healthcare includes 42 hospitals in 14 states with nearly 42,000 employees and physicians. Eleven of the hospitals are members of the Prime Healthcare Foundation, a not-for-profit public charity with $700 million in assets all donated by Reddy and his family.
Prime Healthcare hospitals are regularly recognized for high quality care and the health system is one of the fastest growing hospital systems in the United States.
Specific financial terms of the acquisition were not released as of press time.
