Lenore Del Castillo, the woodcarving teacher at the Lehigh Acres Senior Citizens Center, took top honors in wood at the 19th annual Artistry in Wood Show on Feb. 13 at the Bert J. Harris Jr. Agricultural Center in Sebring.
Del Castillo won two first places and one second place with her artwork “Fantasy Lighthouse,” “Lazy Susan” and “Sad Iron.”
Artist of the Month named
Helen Harwood is the Artist of the Month for March at the Arts of the Inland gallery in the cafe at Lehigh Regional Medical Center, 1500 Lee Blvd.

Proceeds benefit local youth and community programs.

The seminars will be held at the United Healthcare Medicare Store, at 6900 Daniels Parkway, Suite 23C, Fort Myers.
They are designed to teach you how to protect yourself and your property from fraudsters and identity thieves, as well as share information about the inner-workings of the LCSO and its departments.

Edible Gardening Exchange to meet
The Edible Gardening Exchange will meet on March 17 at 6:30 p.m. at the North Fort Myers Community Center, at 2000 N. Recreation Park Way, North Fort Myers; informal chat at 5:30 p.m.
Speaker Beverly DeMarco, a registered Florida beekeeper from Lehigh Acres, will discuss bees and their role in an edible garden.
The fee for the class is $10, plus a one-time $10 Lee Parks and Recreation membership fee.

The Lehigh Concert Band will perform on the following dates:

At the April concert, the band will award its music scholarship to one of its members.

LCSO presents safety seminars
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office will host the following Senior Safety Seminars:
– March 22: K-9 demonstration at 1 p.m.
– April 12: Identity Theft, Deceased and Medical, and Protect Yourself at 10 a.m.
– April 26: 911 – What Happens When You Call? at 1 p.m.
The seminars will be held at the United Healthcare Medicare Store, at 6900 Daniels Parkway, Suite 23C, Fort Myers.
They are designed to teach you how to protect yourself and your property from fraudsters and identity thieves, as well as share information about the inner-workings of the LCSO and its departments.

Pool holding classes
The Lehigh Acres Community Pool, at 1400 W. Fifth St., is heated and open year-round.
A wide range of swim lesson skill levels are offered, including adult beginners; all taught by American Red Cross Certified instructors. Eight classes for $50.
Commit to get fit with aqua aerobics. Choose from a fast-paced workout at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday through Friday or the ultra-low impact class at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday and Friday. Classes are 45 minutes long in chest deep water.
There are lifeguards-on-duty. Lap swimmers welcome.

The Healthy Harvest Community Farms, at 607 Mirror Lakes Drive, hosts the following boot camps:
– Mondays and Fridays from 6 to 7 p.m. at Williams Park
– Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. at Veterans Park
– Wednesdays from 6 to 7 p.m and Saturdays from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. at Healthy Harvest Community Farms

The selection includes succulents, small trees, native plants, herbs, annuals, bromeliads, rose bushes and more.
Master Gardeners will be available to answer any questions.
There is a $1 per hour parking fee, with a maximum of $5.
