Riverdale students take state wins
PHOTO SPECIAL TO THE CITIZEN Ten students from Riverdale High School won top spots at the Future Business Leaders of America State Leadership Conference in Orlando.
Ten Riverdale High School students are celebrating seven state wins after competing in the Future Business Leaders of America State Leadership Conference in Orlando.
The students competed against 4,000 students in nearly 60 events.
According to Jason Sill, a spokesman with the Lee County School Board, Riverdale was also recognized as a Gold Seal Shapter and for its contributions to the March of Dimes and the American Cancer Society.
This was the best showing for the chapter of 93 members to date.
Sill said five members will advance to nationals this summer in Atlanta, Georgia. They are:
– Sunghee Kim, ninth grade: Intro to Parliamentary Procedure, second place
– Anna Presson, 11th grade: Electronic Career Portfolio, second place
– Trevor Mathisen and Harrison Strohl, ninth grade: Business Financial Plan team, third place
– Luke Chin A Foeng, 11th grade: Business Calculations, third place
Also placing at states were:
– Alex Sanabria, 12th grade: Job Interview, fourth place
– Rachel Bibbey, Nicky Ribot and Matt Hawley, 12th grade: Fifth place
– Raymond Tavarez, 10th grade: Intro to Business Procedures, fifth place
Principal Gerald B. Demming said he and the school were proud of the winners.
