The Lehigh Acres Senior Citizens Center can be your stopover if you are interested in traveling.

There is a Travel Desk at the entrance of the center, at 219 Plaza Drive. Josephine Scotton, who oversees the Travel Desk, is there several days a week and can offer various travel plans to several locations.

“It’s not exclusively for members of the senior center; it’s open to anyone who wants to travel and get good prices,” Scotton said. “Anyone in the public can stop by and get information on the many trips available, either on travel buses to interesting places in the U.S. to cruises to almost anywhere.

“Our prices are fair and a lot of members do use our services,” she said.

There is information on many trips and often, people come together and travel together, she said.

“We have trips like several days in New York City and that is one of trips where a group of members go and travel together,”?Scotton said. “Each pays one fee and all the expenses in a hotel and restaurant included in the cost, which also includes tourist sites. It’s like going on a cruise, everything is included in one price.”

Scotton said one of the newest trips being planned now is a seven-night cruise to the western Caribbean, which is Feb. 25, 2017, to March 4, 2017.

The cruise is scheduled for next year so that gives those who want to travel on a ship time to pay for it in installment plans, which is popular with many who can have it all paid for before the cruise.

Scotton said guests would travel on the MSC Divina, which can carry 3,274 travelers.

Scotton said there are many special features on the ship which include a 4D Cinemak, an Aqua Park which has 150 illuminated fountains and water jets to create a resort pool area and the Pantheon Theater is state of the art in sight and sound.

Literature provided by Scotton noted that the trip is sponsored by OmniTours.

On this cruise, prices range from $759 to $1,159 per person, based on double occupancy.

Scotton said that if enough people from Lehigh sign up for the cruise, a bus is provided at the center to take visitors to the cruise ship, docked in Miami.

“No fighting heavy traffic, it’s a great way if enough people sign up to get to the ship in time with plenty of time to check in,” she said.

“That’s round trip,” Scotton said. “After the cruise, they will bring the visitors back to Lehigh with porterage gratuities included. Taxes of $116 per person for the cruise are included and balcony cabins receive a $25 per person onboard credit – maximum of $50 per cabin – and the captain of the ship’s cocktail party which offers sparkling wine and other drinks and dry snacks.”

The cruise stops over in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, George Town in the Grand Cayman Islands, Cozumel, Mexico and Nassau.

“With two days at sea, visitors can go on excursions when docked in the four ports,” Scotton said.

A $100 per person deposit is due with a reservation which is for singles. A second deposit of $500 per person is due on Aug. 1, with a final deposit due by Nov. 23.
