Political ‘sit–down’

By Staff | Mar 30, 2016

To the editor:

The political scene is showing the early stages of a violent storm. The forces of the old guard are being confronted with a most determined foe.

It is time for the GOP elites to have a sit down with the “Don.” In this case the “Don” has a last name and it is Trump. If the present situation continues a Pyrrhic victory will result that inflicts such a devastating toll on the victor that it is tantamount to defeat. This need not be the obvious outcome.

However, with the GOP elites delivering their jeremiad turmoil they are neglecting to remember that the party is made up of citizens who pay their homage to a once acceptable political philosophy.

And somewhere in this primary distance is John Kasich rambling along with his single – mindedness of a tsetse fly going for a cow.

Ted Cruz is not involved in this fray with the same intensity of the “Don” as his prospects are still viable but not likely to produce him as the eventual nominee.

So, we are left with discovering what topic or topics will demand attention. Politics is business by another means and in business this “Don” has proven to be not only formidable but a winner as well.

The GOP elites are seriously concerned that their power grip has lost some of its muscle. But they need not fret because deal making is the art that the Don brings to the table. If the two sides should come together and make the “peace” a new political King and Court will produce a long remembered ceremony. It will then be the hope of their followers that the new reign will be both prosperous and peaceful.
