LeeTran earns honors
Two LeeTran drivers recently earned top honors during Florida’s Triple Crown Bus Roadeo Champions.
Chris Cowles, a LeeTran ADA Paratransit driver, earned first place in the Cutaway Operator Driving division and Norm Miknyocki, a Fixed Route driver, came away with third place in the Fixed Route Operator Driving division.
Nearly 100 transit representatives from over 30 city, county and state departments competed.
Both competitors won trophies, as well as small cash prizes.
Cowles also won an all-expense paid trip to the national competition, where he will represent Florida at the International Bus Roadeo in Portland, Oregon.

Expert to talk about starting business
Darius Joseph, SCORE mentor and entrepreneur, will discuss the basics of starting a business on April 20 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Keiser University, at 9100 Forum Corporate Parkway, Fort Myers.
Leveraging his current experience as president of Simplified Technologies and his 20 years’ experience in business, Joseph will share how to:
– Identify the right resources to start and grow a businesses
– Develop and expand a marketing and sales plans
– Gain and retain customers
Cost is $5 per person.
County offers summer job opportunities
The Lee County Parks and Recreation Department is hiring about 40 summer camp counselors and 20 lifeguards.
These are temporary, entry-level positions from June 14 to July 29 at various Lee County pools and recreation centers.
Camp counselors must have experience working with youth ages 6-15; lifeguards must have current certification.
Starting pay is $9.25 an hour.
Camp counselors will assist with leading youth groups in various activities, entertainment and education programs.
Lifeguards are responsible for patrolling the pool in order to protect swimmers and maintain order.
All positions will also perform other duties as assigned.
Work could involve odd and irregular work schedules that include weekends and holidays.
Employees will have extensive contact with youth and the public.
Deadline to apply is April 29.
