LobsterFest tickets sold out
If you did not get your tickets for the 2016 LobsterFest put on by the Lehigh Community Services, it is too late to get them now – tickets are sold out.
Charlotte Rae Nicely, executive director of Lehigh Community Services, says this is their signature event and they expect to raise more than $10,000 and probably more.
“That money goes back into the community to help those in need. I am very happy because this will be our banner year. I thank the committee so much for all they have done to make this possible,” she said. “It’s our fifth annual event.”
Maria Otero, who serves on the staff of Lehigh Community Services, said calls were still coming in late last week.
“We have had to tell them that the LobsterFest is totally sold out,” she said. “Some 150 people will be eating lobster, steaks chicken and more and all that goes with it this coming Saturday night, April 16, and there’s no more room.”
The fire marshal cannot allow but a certain number of diners and servers in the huge dining room at the Microtel Inn.
Nicely said it is being catered by Uncle Jim’s Authentic Lobster Bake in Lehigh?Acres.
“He’s the absolute best,” Nicely said.
She added there will also be entertainment, Jimmy Buffet style.
Tickets for the LobsterFest dinner were $60 per person and the menu is massive.
It includes a choice of one and a quarter pound Maine lobster, sirloin steak or a half a chicken, creamy clam chowder, Maine steamed clams, Maine mussels, baby red potatoes, corn on the cob, hard boiled eggs, cole slaw, rolls and condiments. For dessert there is strawberry shortcake.
Ostero said a professional team of cooks will be on hand to prepare all that food.
“It’s a real sight to see, all those people cooking and serving. It’s worth taking photos of it all,” Ostero said.
This is her second year to attend the LobsterFest.
The event is an annual signature fundraiser for Lehigh Community Services, the help agency that passes out food and helps pay utility bills, plus hands out school supplies and toys during the holiday season.
“It’s a banner year and I know Rae Nicely, our executive director, is very happy because the proceeds go back into the community to care for the needy,” she said.
Officials noted that no more tickets will be made available.
“We are sold out … you have to tell everyone that we don’t have any more tickets and I wish we did, but that is the way it is,” she said. “It’s a position to be in.”
But, there is always next year.
“I know I am going have a great time as will all 150 people who will be there to eat and be entertained,” she said.
Nicely said the proceeds will help so much to benefit the needy.
“They are what this is all about,”?she said.
