Fashion through the decades: Goodwill Industries planning fashion extravaganza
Goodwill Industries is planning a fashion extravaganza on May 6 and is inviting the community of Southwest Florida to its big event, a celebration commemorating 50 years of service in the area.
Goodwill Industries opened last year in Lehigh Acres.
“Fashion Throughout The Decades” will run from 7 to 9:30 p.m. and will be held at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort and Spa in Bonita Springs.
What’s being called a glamorous event, it will feature a fashion show highlighting the most popular fashion trends from the past 50 years with winners being recognized.
Spokesman Josh Milton says music will be played from each decade as Goodwill employees and clients walk the runway to show off the styles from those fabulous times.
In addition to the fashion show, awards will be presented recognizing Goodwill mission service clients who have exceeded expectations, as well as Goodwill’s volunteers and supporters.
Tickets are $75 and available at: goodwillswfl.org/goodswillfifty.

It is one of 165 autonomous nonprofit Goodwill agencies across the U.S. and Canada, he said in a news release. He also said Goodwill employs more than 900 people in Charlotte, Collier, Glades, Henry and Lee counties. In addition, he said the charity has helped a record-breaking 42,000 people with disabilities and disadvantages.

In a news release, Goodwill is cited as being the leading nonprofit provider of job training programs in the U.S. and Canada.
He also noted that Goodwill programs and services include Job-Link Centers, which provide career training, job placement and family strengthening services; youth services including high school/ high-tech, and the LIFE Academy Charter School for students with developmental disabilities; income-sensitive housing for senior citizens and people with disabilities; and the Goodwill SWFL MicroEnterprise Institute, and more.
There will also be a celebration of Goodwill’s annual Breakthrough Award winners.
Those who attend will be treated to hors d’oeuvres and cocktails throughout the evening. Milton also said in the news release that guests will also be able to see wares from several graduates of Goodwill’s MicroEnterprise program. The emcee will be Kelli Dame a Fox 4 news anchor.
