Church fashion show promises to be big one
MEL TOADVINE Making final plans for Saturday’s fashion show at First Community Congregational Church are, from left, chairman Linda Greenwald and committee members Libby Lock and Linda Donley.
Linda Greenwald says the upcoming fashion show that will be held on May 7 in the dining room of the First Community Congregational Church promises to be a cool one and anyone interested in the latest spring and summer fashions may want to attend.
Greenwald is the chairman of the annual show and helping her this year are Libby Lock and Linda Donley.
“We have these really great fashion shows every year and we always have a good crowd. This one is sponsored by the church and the fashions will be presented by Bealls Outlet in Lehigh Acres.
“Our theme is ‘Summer Breeze’ and the fashions are going to be exciting,” Greenwald promises.
The seven models will mingle with the guests in the latest fashions in the dining area while guests are enjoying a 1 p.m. luncheon. The cost is $20.
Greenwald said from 12:15 to 1 p.m., just before the fashion show, there will be hors d’oeurves for everyone.
The luncheon will consist of chicken cordon bleu, a baked potato and steamed vegetables and a drink.
“We are going to have some nice door prizes, too,” Greenwald said. “The raffles will be held with gifts from local businesses. Among those are 25 baskets, filled with goodies prepared by local business people and church members.
The annual fashion show at First Community Congregational Church is located at 200 Leeland Heights Blvd. During October, it’s the church that has the Pumpkin Patch, with hundreds of pumpkins on the front lawn, all for sale to support the church outreach programs.
The proceeds from the fashion show will go to the church’s program of giving away food to the needy. It’s has one of the area’s largest food giveaway program in the tri-county area, said Pastor Deb Frysinger, citing figures from the Harry Chapin Food Bank.
For tickets, call the church at 239-369-1615.
“There’s not much time since the fashion show is scheduled for this weekend. You don’t want to miss all the new trends of spring and summer fashions for the women,” Greenwald said.
