New eligibility for down payment assistance
The maximum purchase price for homes eligible for the Lee County Department of Human Services HOME Down Payment Assistance Program has increased.
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has released new 2016 maximum purchase prices for the program.
In Lee County, down payment assistance may now be provided to qualifying buyers purchasing homes up to $156,000, an increase of $8,000 over the previously approved maximum sales price.
To qualify for down payment assistance, you must meet the HUD income guidelines including income of not more than $32,300 for an individual; $46,100 for a household of four; or $60,900 for a household of eight.

Nominations for Hometown Hero being accepted
The Lehigh Acres Kiwanis Club is taking nominations from the public for its Hometown Hero.
Each year the club seeks out people in the community who have done something benefiting an organization with little or any notice or someone who has done good things to help others and deserves to be recognized.
The Hometown Hero and college scholarship winners will be honored at the annual Community Awards Banquet on June 17 at 6 p.m. at the Christ United Methodist Church, at 1430 N. Homestead Road.
To nominate someone, explain in 250 words or less the reasons why you think the person would be worthy the award.
