Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help identifying a couple who tried to use stolen credit cards at two east Lee County stores.

The victim stated that she parked her car in the driveway of her Lake Run Drive home in Gateway around 5:30 p.m. on April 26.

When she woke up the next morning, she discovered a text alert from American Express in reference to attempts to use her credit card at the Lehigh Express and a Shell gas station on State Road 82 between 1 and 3:30 a.m. April 27.

Upon going to her car, she discovered that someone had broken into her vehicle, stealing her credit cards, purse, cash and personal identification, as well as a laptop computer.

Fortunately, all of the purchase attempts were declined, since the suspects did not have a correct PIN to complete the transactions.
