Latest in fashions at Fountain Crest

By Staff | May 18, 2016

MEL TOADVINE Berta Harmon models off the latest spring and summer fashions.

About 100 Fountain Crest Retirement Community residents and their friends were treated to the annual Fashion Show last Wednesday, with a dozen or so of the residents acting as the models.

The show was sponsored by Anthony’s Ladies Apparel in Fort Myers, while Debbie Ruff served as the emcee.

As the local women who are residents at Fountain Crest modeled the latest in spring and summer fashions, they walked through the large dining room at the facility, giving all the attendees a close-up look at the latest in designs.

Brighter colors and cotton dresses seem to steal the show.

Members who attended reached out from their tables, where they has eaten lunch prior to the fashion show, to sometimes touch the cloth of the new fashion.

MEL TOADVINE Debbie Whiteaker poses for a group of women. Whiteaker lives at Fountain Crest and was a model at last week’s fashion show at the facility.

“Oh that’s pretty,” one of the women said, as the model stood before the table while several women looked on.

The first model to start the show was Barta Harmon, who wore a stunning outfit with bright yellow slacks.

It was a festive occasion and Suzanne Ullemeyer, the dining room manager at Fountain Crest, and her staff served refreshments during the show.

There were about a dozen models from Fountain Crest who participated in the annual show, something the management of Fountain Crest plans every year.

Barbara Briggs from Anthonys narrated the show as models mingled in the crowd which also contain some men, who live at Fountain Crest.

Debbie Ruff, the manager of Anthonys at 7091-12 College Parkway in Fort Myers was also on hand as the models paraded through the dining room, stopping here and there to give the residents a closer look at the clothes being shown.

Ruff said Anthonys has presented fashion shows in the past at the assisted living complex.
