Whose America is this?
To the editor:
In the recent protest at the Trump rally in California I find it criminal for not only the destruction caused by these protestors, but also appalling by those carrying the Mexican flag and burning my country’s American flag.
An administration, with some of our Supreme Court members and some of our congressional delegates who support the desecration of the American flag as “freedom of speech” under the First Amendment rights, fail to show their allegiance to the nation they are supposed to be representing. Now we are gong to allow students to opt out to the pledging of allegiance to our nation’s flag. Many politicians and people support the Constitution only when it supports their political ideology. If we lie to Congress it is a felony, but if Congress lies to us it is just politics.
In being politically correct our government spends millions to rehabilitate criminals, yet does almost nothing for the victims. We are unable to close the border to Mexico to halt illegal immigration, but we have no problem in protecting the 38th parallel in Korea. We allow pornography on TV and the Internet, but will not allow a nativity scene in a public park or government facility during Christmas. We have parenting replaced with Ritalin and video games. We take money from those who work for it and give it to those who don’t want to work. If we call for giving a hand up instead of a hand out, we are labeled. I could go on, but those blind to these truths would only turn their heads.
How sad we have become as a nation. With all those Americans who gave the ultimate sacrifice in the protection of our freedoms, who around the world lie beneath those grave markers, I want to apologize for my nation’s present shortcomings, with hope that we can find a new beginning in making America a strong and respected nation again around the world, and honor you, my heroes, who gave the ultimate sacrifice for the protection of our nation.
