The Lehigh Regional Medical Center Auxiliary recently awarded two $500 scholarships to two Lehigh Acres high school students.
The first to get a scholarship was Nanthan Mena, who is currently enrolled in Florida Gulf Coast University’s nursing program. He would like to specialize as a pediatric nurse and will graduate in May 2017.
The second student, Amy McDowell, is currently enrolled in the University of Florida’s nursing program. She plans to become a nurse practitioner.
The auxiliary has been giving scholarships for several years to Lehigh residents to further their medical education. The funds come from the sale of items in the hospital lobby’s gift shop.
The auxiliary also hosts fundraisers throughout the year.
The auxiliary is always in need of volunteers over the age of 18. Applications can be found at the front desk in the hospital’s lobby.
