Two lucky senior high school students – Farha Deceus of Lehigh Senior High School and Vanessa Casiano of East Lee County High School – were each presented a $1,000 scholarship to further their educations by Orville Hall, president of the Caribbean American Social Club of Lehigh Acres.
The awards were presented by Hall at the association’s annual banquet held at the Majestic Golf Club. A Lifetime Achievement Award was handed out to Vincent Moses and Marie Sallade, while the Henry M. Garner Contribution Award went to Nola Hall.
The group is known as CASCOLA and it holds its monthly meetings at the St. Anselm Episcopal Church, at 2201 E. Sixth St.
It has an active membership of some 60 members, with a number of committees that cover everything from entertainment to new membership recruitment.
“This was a long-term objective of mine and my focus on becoming president,” Hall said about the implementation of the scholarship program. “It was a way for us to give back to the community where we conduct our business.”

“I want to thank the scholarship committee’s chairperson Dr. Claude Villiers and the other members for putting together such a comprehensive program that challenges the skill-sets of the applicants and allows us to reach the best seniors in our community,” he said.
New members and guests are welcome to visit or join the club.
