Suspect in bridal shop robbery identified with anonymous tip

Thanks to an anonymous tip to Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers, a knife-wielding man who robbed a Lehigh Acres bridal store on June 9 has been captured.

Dayton Long, 36, of 913 Jaguar Blvd., was arrested and charged on June 13 with one count of robbery with weapon.

Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers has asked the public for help in identifying the suspect.

About 1 p.m., a white man, partially masked with a white bandana over his face, entered Maria’s Bridal at 1430 Lee Blvd.

Officials reported that Long is no stranger to a life of crime, with a lengthy rap sheet filled with arrests for burglaries, dealing in stolen property, fraud and the illegal use of credit cards.

For those crimes, Long spent two years in state prison, having been released in March 2015.

He is currently being held without bond in the Lee County Jail.
