Never Trump

By Staff | Jul 20, 2016

To the editor:

I must say I’m truly amazed by the letters written to and published by our local news agencies concerning Donald Trump lately. I’m talking about PhDs, former newspaper editors, people with a considerable amount of book learning, however, zero amount of street sense. That must be the only reason these folks can justify their undying loyalty and support they have expressed for the Great Carpetbagger in the sky. After all, just because Trump said he’s going to get something done, doesn’t mean he’s going to get it done. There are so many cogs in the wheel. Remember, even if elected, he will not become King Trump. For one there is a divided Congress to be considered. Anyway, I was just wondering if these eloquent, well-educated writers could possibly find the time to clear up a few things for us common folks.

– Since big mouth Trump would have us believe that he is such a financial genius who has built a multibillion dollar empire out of nothing, how is it that his campaign is $43 million behind the likes of Hillary Clinton? What this tells me is that this guy can’t even manage the money in his campaign “war chest,” how in the hell does he think he can lead us when it comes to guiding this great nation’s $3 trillion budget?

– How is it that he claims to be self-funding his campaign, when the lion’s share of the money he has put into his campaign fund is going right back into his and his children’s pockets?

– What is he hiding by not revealing his tax forms?

– Why is it that every economic professional, public or private, has said Trump’s economic plan would generate 10 to 20 trillion dollars in debt over the next 10 years?

These are only four simple money questions. There are oh so many other questions that will be asked over the next four months. I would say the top of the list would be the $4.8 billion bankruptcy he left his Trump Casinos investors to sort out, while he was laughing all the way to the bank and, of course, there is the $245 million he defaulted on with Trump Shuttle, severely hurting thousands of employees. I do hope a few of his Trumpsters can answer these simple questions honestly and leaves Trump’s standard “pants on fire” lies back at the Trump Towers. Please leave out Trump’s own explanation which is that he has done everything within the limits of the law. If you folks decide to go this route, OK, then it can only be surmised that Hillary has also done everything within the limits of the law. I mean, after all, she has never been indicted or convicted of any wrongdoing. You can’t have it both ways people, unless of course you want to be labeled as a hypocrite. As my dear old grandmother used to say “what’s good for the goose is good for the gander.”
