LRMC shocked at statement made by association member

By Staff | Jul 27, 2016

During the July monthly Lehigh Ministerial Association meeting, hosted by Lehigh Regional Medical Center, the concept of presenting a “Hands Across Lehigh” event as a show unity in Lehigh Acres was discussed.

The hospital is supportive of an event that promotes unity and includes all members of the community, regardless of ethnicity or religious beliefs.

Unfortunately, as was reported in the Lehigh Acres Citizen on June 20, a member of the ministerial group made a comment considered by members of the hospital leadership and employees to be inappropriate and does not in any way reflect the values and culture at Lehigh Regional.

Gary Bell, chief executive officer at Lehigh Regional Medical Center, said:

“It is my opinion an event to promote unity provides an opportunity for everyone in the Lehigh community to celebrate those things that bring us together. Lehigh has a diverse culture and everyone who calls Lehigh home contributes in their own way. Let us all pull together and hold hands in spirit every day.”

Diann Cimring is the marketing director for the Lehigh Regional Medical Center.
