To the editor:

I am writing to voice my support and encourage others to vote for Dr. Jane Kuckel for Lee County School Board on Aug. 30.

As a career educator serving public schools for 29 years and Southwest Florida school districts (Lee and Collier) since 1993, I am in a position to understand what is needed in a successful school board member. I have known Dr. Kuckel since she started with Lee County Public Schools in 1997 as an assistant superintendent. Dr. Kuckel always impressed me as seeking input from all stakeholders and making decisions based on sound educational principles. Since that time I have interacted with Dr. Kuckel while she was on the school board and also as a professor for FGCU for educational leadership courses. The depth of her understanding of the myriad of factors impacting the education of our students has always impressed me.

Her dedication to putting students first and maintaining the highest level of integrity are reasons why I support her and encourage others to get out and vote for her on Aug. 30.
