Public workshops set to help shape LeeTran’s plan for future

By Staff | Aug 3, 2016

Two public meetings are slated to garner input for Lee County Transit/LeeTran to use as it updates its Transit Development Plan for the years 2017-26.

The plan will serve as a guide to help shape the future of public transit service and operations in Lee County.

LeeTran will host meetings on Aug. 9 from 10 a.m. to noon and from 4 to 6 p.m. on the First Floor of the Lee County Administration East building, at 2201 Second Street, Fort Myers.

Prior to the dates, the TDP proposed plan will be presented to the Lee County Metropolitan Planning Organization’s Technical and Citizen Advisory Committees on Aug. 4, which provides additional opportunity for public comment.

All interested parties are invited to attend and to provide input on how to achieve the vision of a more connected community in Lee County and the region during the next decade.

People who would like to offer comments, but are unable to attend the workshop, can make submission in writing sent to the attention of Tara Crawford at Tindale Oliver, 135 W. Central Blvd., Suite 450, Orlando, FL 32801.

Lee County operates in compliance with Federal Transit Administration program requirements and ensures that transit services are made available and equitably distributed, and provides equal access and mobility to any person without regard to race, color, or national origin, disability, gender, or age in accordance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964; FTA Circular 4702.1A, “Title VI and Title VI Dependent Guidelines for Federal Transit Administration Recipients.”

Attendees who require an auxiliary aid service for effective communication, or other reasonable accommodations in order to participate in the proceeding, should contact Wayne Gaither, LeeTran principal planner, at 3401 Metro Parkway, Fort Myers, FL 33901, by phone at 239-533-0344 or via e-mail at wgaither@leegov.com.
