Bubba Wayne O’Connor

A man and woman from Lehigh Acres have been taken into custody in connection to an incident involving a Hendry County couple, according to authorities.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement, assisted by the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office, arrested and charged Bubba Wayne O’Connor, 42, and Wendy Michele Soucier, 49, today. The pair is charged with murder, attempted second-degree murder and armed robbery.

Investigators believe that O’Conner and Soucier traveled to the home of Cherry Ermine, 72, and Frank Jansson, 69, on Aug. 6, with the intent to obtain money. Authorities reported that O’Connor and Soucier confronted the homeowners and an altercation ensued.

Ermine was killed in the incident, while Jansson sustained life-threatening injuries.

Jansson’s condition was unknown as of today.

Wendy Michele Soucier

O’Connor and Soucier have been booked into the Hendry County Jail without bond.

The case will be prosecuted by the State Attorney’s Office 20th Judicial Circuit.
