Applications being taken for board
It is that time of the year again when memberships are open on the Lehigh Acres Community Council.
The group meets on the third Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Lee County Sheriff’s Office East District headquarters, at 1301 Homestead Road.
The council has existed for years and is a mouthpiece for Lehigh residents to air their concerns about their community.
The meetings are open to the public.
Those interested in becoming a council member can pick up an application beginning Sept. 2 at the Greater Lehigh Acres Chamber of Commerce, at 25 N. Homestead Road, according to Robert Saul, a board officer who is overseeing the membership drive.
“Applications are also available at our website at: www.lehighacrescommunitycouncil.com,”?he said. “Just click on ‘Connect’ and then go to ‘Get Involved’ and click on ‘Candidacy Form’ at the bottom.”
All forms must be turned into the chamber or mailed to P.O. Box 725, Lehigh Acres, FL 33970, no later than Sept. 30.
“No forms will be accepted after that date and all forms must be totally completed or they won’t be considered,” Saul said.
He noted there are presently 10 positions open. If over 10 people apply, local elections will be held Oct. 15 to Nov. 15.
Saul said the election ballots, if needed, will be available in the Lehigh Acres Citizen, on the council’s website and at the chamber of commerce’s office.
