Community partners needed to assist disabled homeowner
Lee Building Industry Association Builders Care is seeking assistance from canine-centered businesses to help facilitate life-changing construction repairs for a fellow homeowner in need.
Jodi Santana is a strong, happy and positive single mother who suffers from a severe degenerative disease affecting her sight.
Despite her health issues, Santana continues to work as a customer service representative for LCEC and works hard to provide for herself, support her three grown children and barely cover bills for her quaint Lehigh Acres home.
With the help of the Lee County SHIP home renovation grant, Lee Builders Care is going to provide life-changing home renovations to address a leaky roof, aged air conditioning and structural repairs for Santana.
Her income alone would not allow her to consider addressing the critical repairs needed. The grant and assistance from Lee Builders Care is a dream come true.
Santana’s pride and joy are her two canine companions, Sam and Gloria. Sam is a 5-year-old female English springer spaniel and Gloria is a 13-year-old female Labrador mix. Both dogs are family-friendly and have been together for many years.
To facilitate the repairs to the home, Santana will be staying with family and friends during the construction period, which is anticipated to take place in late September and last two to three weeks.
Unfortunately, she does not have anyone that can look after her dogs during this time and she cannot take them with her. Unless temporary housing can be arranged, the project cannot take place.
Builders Care is currently seeking community support and local partnership to provide temporary housing/shelter for these two wonderful dogs during the renovations. The ideal partnership would be from a local doggie day care, boarding facility or veterinarian.
The dogs are also in need of vaccinations, which are more than Santana can afford at this time.
To assist or for information, contact Christi Pritchett Sarlo, executive director of Lee BIA Builders Care, at 239-938-0056 or christi@BIA.net.
