To the editor:

Who would be the best Senate candidate to represent Southwest Florida citizens in the new District 27?

I have had a personal experience with Sen. Benacquisto with seven legislative bills I authored in 2012 – I have over 37 years of distinguished law enforcement experience and in writing laws – to provide for a “Uniform Procedure” in identifying “Unidentified Human Remains.”

As you may not be aware, these human remains are, for the most part, homicide victims and Florida is still ranked No. 5 in the United States with the most “Unidentified Human Remains.”

How can you possibly do a thorough homicide investigation if you don’t know who the victim was?

She did nothing to move these bills forward in the Senate Committees! In my opinion, she is inept as a legislator, does not answer e-mails or phone calls and apparently cannot read and understand current Florida Statutes.

We need a Senate representative that can read and write laws, represent the needs of Southwest Floridians in Tallahassee and be accessible to our concerns!

That being said, I voted for candidate Jason Maughan, a successful attorney here in Southwest Florida and hope you will give him the opportunity to serve us as well!

Please vote for Jason Maughan by absentee ballot or at the polls, Aug. 30 and for clean water now!
