Vote Morgan for School Board, District 7
To the editor:
Last year the voters of Lee County approved the addition of two new school board seats (Districts 6 and 7), each of which are “at large,” meaning all voters can vote to identify new candidates in these seats in the Aug. 30 primary. There are five candidates for District 7, the most important new board seat, because it is a four-year term assignment.
One of these candidates, Cathleen Morgan, is significantly more experienced and prepared than the other candidates. She has earned a master’s in business management, in addition to a master’s degree in school administration. She retired from a career in finance; her last assignment was the vice president of operations for JP Morgan, New York, a recognized national leader in finance. Ms. Morgan has worked on two different school boards over the years. In New York she was on a school board that utilized “best practice” governance. Currently, she is serving on the Lee County School Board, where she was the president during the 2014-15 school year. Cathleen Morgan is acutely aware of the many needs and demands of a school district. She is an outspoken advocate for education initiatives that demonstrably improve student achievement, and for budget and finance practices that improve district budget and finance accountability. Recently endorsed by the regional daily newspaper, she is clearly the candidate of choice for District 7.
Please join us and cast your vote for Cathleen Morgan.
