Veteran thanks American Legion here for new hope

By Staff | Sep 14, 2016

To the editor:

This is to my American Legion family, Post 323 in beautiful downtown Lehigh Acres. I wish to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for renewing my faith in humanity.

I would especially like to extend not only a great big thank you and my deepest appreciation and a shout-out to our present commander, Michael Mason, for all of his support and proving to me that together we absolutely did something I would never have been able to do by myself.

I have been a member of Post 323 since 2013 which is why I started my first sentence with my American Legion family.

I was a homeless Vietnam vet since early 2000 and it took its toll on me.

I had lost all hope of finding a place and the help I needed to get back on the track of life until I became a member of Post 323 where my faith in humanity returned as well as a new family.

I now have a mail box that I can call mine and with pride, thanks to all of the support from Post 323 and to say this is not only a thank-you letter but a letter that shows a ray of hope for all of my brothers and sisters in arms to never give up and always keep the faith. There is humanity after all.

May God bless America and may God bless the American Legion Post 323 family. Thank you all.

Troy Minton
