Meeting to address SR82 widening
A special public meeting and open house is set for Thursday night, Sept. 22, concerning the widening of Lee Boukevard. to Shawnee Road. and Shawnee Road to Alabama Road in Lehigh Acres.
In a press release from the Florida Department of Transportation, District One, the meeting is being held regarding the design plans to widen SR82.
The proposed improvements include widening both segments of SR82 from an existing two-lane highway to a six-lane divided highway. The corridor will have a median separating three 12-foot travel lanes in each direction, 6.5-foot inside and outside paved shoulders, a 5-foot sidewalk on the north side and a 10-foot shared-use path on the south side.
With the addition of a median through this segment, FDOT said it is developing a plan for median openings and turn lanes.
The public meeting will be from 5:30 – 7 p.m. as an open house at the New Life Assembly of God Church at 5146 Leonard Blvd., South, in Lehigh.
According to FDOT, the purpose of the meeting is to present information and to obtain comments about the proposed widening plans for both segments of SR 82.
An informal video will run continuously throughout the open house. This video will illustrate how the Continuous Flow Intersection at Daniels Parkway/ Gunnery Road will operate.
You can attend anytime during the open house to review project information and talk one-on-one with the design team.
