To the editor:

Suggestion: We need ways to separate the competent politician from the incompetent. It will likely take several passes to do this. Here is a suggested First Pass:

Require each declared candidate to personally write a document which describes his political philosophy and how he plans to tackle the several issues of the day relevant to the office he seeks.

He shall compose this document entirely on his own without help form others and declare under oath that he has done just that.

This one step will, in my opinion, clear out a literal mountains of useless political chaff from the poliscape.
