Information on home robbery still sought
Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers and the Lee County Sheriff’s Office are renewing their efforts to obtain information about a violent home invasion robbery.
Detectives are continuing the search for information on the perpetrator who is responsible for pistol whipping a father and son on July 7 in Lehigh Acres.
Trish Routte, Crime Stoppers coordinator, reported that a couple was walking through the parking lot to their Vista Palms apartment, located off of Alabama Road, just after 10 p.m.
An unknown black man approached them from behind, demanding cash and their cell phones while holding a gun to the male victim’s head, she said.
When the assailant did not receive what he thought was an adequate amount of money, the couple was forced to their apartment.
Once inside, a physical altercation ensued, she said. The father of the male victim tried to help the couple, however, he ended up being pistol whipped along with his son.
The person responsible for the attack is still at large, and Crime Stoppers is hopeful that someone who did not initially come forward with information will do so now.
The suspect is described as in his late 20s or early 30s, about 6 feet tall and 175 to 200 pounds, with a two- to five-inch beard.
At the time of the incident, he was wearing a camouflage jacket and black cargo pants and a handkerchief on his face.
Routte said he used a black semi automatic pistol during the robbery.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477). All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
