Lehigh special districts recap

Katy Hoover upset Nathan Stout in the race for Seat 5 of the Lehigh Acres Municipal Services Improvement District Tuesday. In final voting tallies, Hoover won with 12,350 votes while Stout had a total of 10,505 votes. He served on the former East County Water Control District board for several years.

Three seats were up to be filled on the LA-MSID. The results are:

Seat 1 of the LA-MSID

Michael “Mike” Welch, with 12,700 votes, defeated opponent Dewey Tyler, who received 6,062 votes.

Seat 3 of the LA-MSID

Incumbent Kenneth Thompson received 17,824 votes, defeating challenger Mo Yasin, who received 4,659 votes.

Seat 5 of the LA-MSID

Kathy Hoover won with 12,350 votes, defeating Nathan Stout, the incumbent and treasurer, who had 10,505 votes.

Three seats were up for grabs in the Lehigh Acres Fire and Rescue District. Results are:

Seat 1

Cathy Kruse, the current chairman of the fire board, won with a total of 7,087 votes. Her closest opponent was Robert J. Bennett who received a total of 7,001 votes.

Charles Edwards received 5,553 votes and Cathy Kruse, 7,087.

Erica Farsi received. 3,425.

Seat 3

John Anderson won with 7,793 votes. Alaine Capucci received 2,332 votes; Al Ron Gonzalez, 4,503; William E. Liedtke, 5,419; and Thomas McColloch, 2,930.

Seat 4

Debra E. Cunningham was the winner with 7,766 votes. Frank T. LaRosa received 6,657; Cia Sherman, 4,363; Richard Alan Swindle, 1,797; and Tyler Woodby, 2,445.

Kenneth Thompson of the LA-MSID was the top vote- getter in the two special districts in Lehigh with his total of 17,824 votes.

In the LA-MSID race, Richard Farsi withdrew from the race, but his name remained on the ballot. He received 4,051 votes. It was too late to remove his name as the ballots had been printed, according to the board of election supervisors.
