Body found off Gunnery Road

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office continued its investigation over the weekend after a body was found on Nov. 23 off of Gunnery Road South and Southwest Fourth Street.

The victim has been identified as Michael S. Williams, 24, of no known address. The investigation has been ruled a homicide.

No other information was issued immediately, although?detectives called the area where the body was found a murder scene.

Williams’ body was found at 3972 S.W. Fourth St. at 8:15 a.m. Deputies were searching the area for clues behind his death.

One man who lived in the area said he thought he had heard five shots, but was not sure if they were fireworks or gunshots. He said they sounded really distant.

Another neighbor reported that she also heard what sounded like gunshots late on Nov. 22. According to reports, she discovered the body during her morning walk.

There were reportedly five bullet holes in Williams’ back.

Neighbors said they had heard no follow up noises, like vehicles speeding away.

The LCSO?was unable to confirm last week if Williams lived in the area or why he was is the area.

The investigation is ongoing, according to officials.
