New assistant director named at Lehigh Community Services
Carolyn Peplow
Carolyn Peplow, of Lehigh Acres, has been named the new assistant director for Lehigh Community Services.
She will work directly under the leadership of Rae Nicely, the executive director, who said Peplow is the ideal person to help her run the fast-growing agency.
Peplow will take over as the lead person whenever Nicely is out of the office or out of town.
Lehigh Community Services, at 201 Plaza Drive,?Suite 3, has experienced phenomenal growth over the years. Since the recession that began in the early 2000s, there are many families in Lehigh who need help with food and utilities and, at Christmas, toys for their children.
“We are moving forward and providing many services, making a major difference in this community – thanks to our generous donors,” Nicely said. “We served over 39,000 clients in 2015 – nearly one-third of the population of Lehigh – and expect that number to increase this year.
“One of the many items we are able to provide to our clients is pet food, which makes them happy campers,” she said, offering thanks to the Animal Medical Center.
“They do a pet food drive for us each year. This is just one of the many services we are able to provide to our clients,” Nicely said. “There’s lots of good things happening.”
Peplow has been working for Lehigh Community Services for over a year now.
With a background is in social services and funding grants, she has been coordinating programs and services for the agency.
“She’s a great fit for our organization,” Nicely said. “She is able to carry out all duties in my absence.”
Peplow said the promotion came after the growth and explosion of services at the agency.
She previously worked with the United Way office and with a chamber of commerce up north.
Peplow and her husband, Ron, decided to move to Lehigh more than a year ago because of the warmer weather.
They enjoy the outdoors and when they are not working, they enjoy the beaches, hiking and other out-of-door activities.
“Just call out outdoors people,” she said.
Her promotion to assistant director went into effect Nov. 1.
Lehigh Community Services employs seven people, including full-time and part-time positions.
