Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help identifying one or more individuals believed to be responsible for a series of lawn equipment thefts in the Lehigh Acres area over the last two weeks.
According to deputies, the spree started on Nov. 26 and has continued as recently as Dec. 6. In each instance, lawn maintenance equipment has been discretely stolen from the open beds of work trucks while employees were otherwise occupied.
In one of the instances on Nov. 30, at least one suspect, dressed in all black, could be seen running from a company truck and loading the stolen goods into a larger white SUV. Approximately $800 in equipment was taken.
Detectives are working on seven separate cases. They believe that each crime is being perpetrated by the same suspect or suspects.
Anyone with information on the person or persons responsible for these thefts is asked to call Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers at 800-780-TIPS (8477). All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
