Allies once more?
To the editor:
With ISIS killing the Russian ambassador to Turkey, coupled with China being arrogant and territorial in the Pacific, it is logical that the U.S. and Russia once more become allies. The combination of these two world powers guarantees that there will be powerful forces to not only deter ISIS, but also the conquest desires of China absorbing other sovereign countries or their territories.
The larger political picture must be in focus. That Putin and Trump are friendly is a good thing because perhaps there is already trust between them: where commitment is concerned. This was never possible with the Obama administration. It appears that only the Democrats or liberal leaders in Europe fear this understanding between the U.S. and Russia and yet all would benefit from the overarching protection it could provide. Like all relationships, it must mature as understood cooperation builds. We need not be adversaries with Russia, we both need the other as a partner. We have allied ourselves to Russia in the past to protect one another from other countries harboring ideas of conquest.
